Together, ASC and FLI strive to include enrichment activities that extend our students knowledge and understanding of the world outside the classroom by taking students out to the Spanish environment. What better way to learn the most influential language than through its influential sport of soccer! With the help of former professional players and coaches, ASC and FLI are able to provide training opportunities for American soccer players in one of the best soccer countries of the world!
Students will study for 4 hours of Spanish class in the morning and attend soccer clinics in the afternoon with some evenings followed by a social dinner or event. Each player will be paired with another player of the same gender. They will stay and travel with the host family throughout the two week program. The host family will provide transportation to the FLI campus in the morning and pick-up from campus to home in the evening. Transportes Rocha Inc. will provide transportation to and from the airport; from FLI to the soccer facilities and the return to FLI.
Soccer clinics are a stimulating atmosphere where the athletes can enjoy soccer, improve their technique and have a positive cultural learning experience in their lives. Through practical demonstrations, exercises and games, players will be taught by former professional soccer players and coaches from UNAM Pumas, Cruz Azul A.C., and Guadalajara S.A. de C.V. Chivas. The program will focus on improvement of soccer techniques, cleverness, mental quickness and decision making, speed and soccer skills, strength and power, and experiencing the Mexican game as if they were a part of the team.
